- Business group: Subsidiary Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Critical accounting tasks include ensuring the integrity of various reporting packages for both Bank and regulatory reporting delieverables, with focus on completeness, validity and accuracy as well as maintaining fixed assets subledger system, performing accounting activities related to month-end close and reconciliation of key control accounts.
- The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing information from operation/accounting systems and coordinating with various teams to submit financial statements to the Bank on a monthly and quarterly basis for the legal entity company and other wholly-owned subsidiaries and affiliates.
- DIMENSIONS – Measurement criteria indicating scope / breadth / magnitude; key statistics, budgets, signing authority, sales results, units supported or other information which quantifies Major Accountabilities.

Responsibilities:
Perform month-end closing accounting activities and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reports to support month-end departmental deadlines
- Prepare EGL journals for pledged assets, client balances and other off-book adjustments
- Liaise with SCUSA regarding intercompany expenses on a monthly basis and reconcile account for quarterly settlement
- Compile data to request payment reimbursement on company Commodities expenses
- Prepare monthly commercial paper/GIC commission reconciliations and deliver monthly commission statements to vendors
- Review and analyse trial balance for erroneous PRC entries and submit to Payment Operations for journal entries correction
- Maintain and produce monthly reconciliations for various assigned key control accounts
- Complete monthly general ledger leadsheets and identify variances as required from
Regulatory and Compliance department:
- Prepare financial statements for Regulatory and Statutory Financial Reporting Purposes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for client (Real Estate and Commodities).
- Prepare audit schedules, note disclosures and requests for management and audit review
Annual Financial Statements for Regulatory and Statutory Reporting:
- Provide reliable financial information, analyses and other support as required by senior management and for audit purposes
- Preparation of note disclosures for the annual audited financial statements
- Communicate with auditors from time to time to explain various procedures and respond to queries
Provide reliable financial information, analysis and other support required for departmental deadlines, senior management and audits:
- Identify potential impact of changes/initiatives and provide appropriate feedback or recommendation
- Communicate with both internal and external auditors to explain various procedures and respond to queries
- Respond to ad-hoc financial projects as assigned
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and cash summary reports
- Prepare bank reconciliation to ensure outstanding items are resolved
- Process journal entries to apply incoming deposits or outgoing payments to requested accounts
- Process stop payment requests from Global Payment Operations
- Liaise and obtain additional information from the Business Service Centre relating to outstanding reconciling items
- Review outstanding cheques and update stale-dated cheque list on a regular basis
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cash summary reports and report material day-over-day changes
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting is essential to comprehend, interpret and compile complex projects, together with proven organizational skills
- 3- 4 years of experience operating systems used in the day-to-day operations of a Finance Department (PeopleSoft Financials, Client, OBI, SmartView, Excel, Microsoft Office)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) accounting standard.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- CPA accounting designation is an asset
- Previous FI experience is an asset
Education & Certificates:
- Requires equivalent of a university degree and an accounting designation along with several years of working experience in an investment or financial institution industry
Best VS. Average Candidate:
The ideal candidate should possess all the essential qualifications and hold a university degree with a specialization in accounting. They should have academic training and practical experience specifically in accounting, rather than general financial roles. Experience in accounting within banking or financial institutions is crucial, particularly in similar roles. Additionally, the candidate should either be actively pursuing a CPA.
