Job Description:Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis for Seaspan Shipyards, the Financial Analyst III will be a finance business partner to support executive management and business teams across the organization. This role will also deliver financial planning and analysis through financial modelling, scenario analysis, budgeting, forecasting and other analytics for Seaspan Shipyards entities.Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.What you’ll do

  • Performs analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting services; promotes systematic approaches to strategic planning processes, including long term profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Builds and maintains consolidated short and long-term financial models annual budget models and rolling forecast models to provide guidance to leaders on revenue growth and cost reduction targets.
  • Prepares weekly cash flow forecast and develops long-term cash flow forecast models to assist senior management determine corporate re-financing strategy and requirements.
  • Coordinates the consolidated board reporting, annual budgeting, and rolling forecasting processes across all Seaspan entities.
  • Provide ad hoc and strategic analyses to enhance profitability and support key project initiatives, including direct and indirect spend, controllable and non-controllable costs, and overhead and G&A expense.
  • Identifies business trends in the business utilizing real data and variance analysis, compile analysis reports, follow-up on results, meet and engage with leaders to review results.
  • Reviews key results and metrics each month to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Commerce.,
  • Completion of a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) is preferred.
  • MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business/financial analysis working in a complex multi-project or program environment. Advanced computer skills (MS Excel modelling and data analysis, PowerPoint, SAP BI/Power BI query reports and dashboards). Database management skills desirable.
  • Financial modelling and data analysis including experience in the financial analyst capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of analysis from a qualitative and quantitative perspective including discounted cash flow, net present value and internal rate of return calculations.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills, critical thinking, with ability to work well under pressure, be a problem solver and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, including ability to communicate with others with tact and diplomacy.
  • Skilled at asking probing questions to deepen understanding of business issues.
  • Enjoys a hands-on role and digging into the details.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and function as a vital team member.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000-$110,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
