Role Summary:
The Controller plays a critical role at Advantage by managing all financial activities and operations of the company. They will ensure robust financial planning, risk management, and compliance with best accounting practices globally. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader and mentor, dedicated to the growth and development of the finance team, and committed to protecting and enhancing the company’s financial assetsKey Responsibilities:
Corporate Financial Systems

  • Control the operation of the Advantage Finance Department
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and enforce financial and internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Evaluate the financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and other department regional managers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports.
  • Manage the annual budgeting requirements for the operating companies.
  • Manage the annual year end audit process.
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all government filings and remittances (HST, WSIB, EHT, etc.,)
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Effectively communicate financial metrics to senior management.
  • Provide cash flow analysis and management.
  • Debt management and collection analysis.
  • Manage tax return across legal entities in a timely manner, supported by local BDO tax offices.

Accounting and Payroll

  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  • Ultimate accountability for the general ledger.
  • Manage global payroll function, process and administration
  • Oversee the Accounts payable, Accounts receivable and Bank reconciliation and month end process

Capital Management and Risk Mitigation

  • Manage relationships with lenders, investors, and other financial stakeholders to ensure the company is well-capitalized.
  • Optimize the company’s capital structure and financing strategies to support growth initiatives.

Who We are Seeking:
Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.

Where You will be Located: This role is remote (home office based), but with expectation to attend in person events, meetings, conferences etc. We support a hybrid way of work. Location preferred in Ontario or with easy access to Toronto if required.Expected Travel: * Occasionally meeting with clients within country or region
