About Our Client
Our client is a recognized leader in the contracting industry, and they are looking to hire a Financial Cost Accountant to join their project team.
About the Opportunity
General accounting duties (30%):
- Prepare daily and weekly cash disbursement summaries
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly HST remittances
- Post monthly journal entries
- Prepare monthly financial statements and report financial results
- Actively participate in year-end close procedures, including performing reconciliations
- Liaise with auditors and prepare year-end working papers
- Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data
Cost accounting duties (70%):
- Work with project teams to perform monthly audits on job cost and revenue reporting
- Perform monthly audits on construction projects and assess margin calculations
- Provide support in projecting anticipated costs and savings and identify potential opportunities for recovery
- Participate in monthly job costing meetings, providing clarification to reports and making note of any decisions or outcomes which need to be analyzed or changed
- Post monthly project billings
- Lead month end cost accrual process and job cost reconciliation to the general ledger
- Perform other monthly accounts reconciliations
- Audit and analyze recoveries for project staff
- Post monthly journal entries
- Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data
About You
Must Haves:
- Experience in both costing (70%) and general accounting (30%)
- Industry experience in one of: construction, manufacturing, project accounting
- Fit: Communication, collaborative
- Competency in excel
Good To Haves:
- CPA is an asset but not required
