The ScopeAre you interested in EU regulations, forests and supply chains of forest products? If so, we invite you to join our team at FSC in Türkiye.We are currently looking for a Forestry Supply Chain Officer that will formally represent FSC in Türkiye and lead activities and projects in close cooperation with relevant local stakeholders from the forestry sector, public, private, NGO sector, the FSC membership. The Forestry Supply Chain Officer will be responsible for all forest supply chain related issues and will act as a link between the Turkish Stakeholders, National Representation Türkiye and FSC International.Main Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be the local technical expert of the relevant ‘FSC methods and standards’ (including the CoC Standard, FSC EUDR Solutions, FSC Trace FSC Promotional License FSC claims and FSC labels etc.)
  • Be the point of contact for and provide technical guidance and training to certificate holders and entities seeking relevant ‘FSC methods and standards’.
  • Develop the Supply Chain Management Strategy & EUDR conformity and support strategy for Türkiye.
  • Engage and network with relevant stakeholders such as CoC Certificate Holders, Certification Bodies, industry associations, relevant government bodies for the improved implementation of relevant ‘FSC methods and standards’.
  • Oversee the integrity of ‘FSC methods and standards’ and increase the capacity of CBs where necessary.
  • Engage in the development and revision of ‘FSC methods and standards’ ensuring that Turkish stakeholders are involved at the appropriate times.
  • Assess impact of FSC in supply chain in Türkiye and communicate this to target audiences.
  • Develop a database of and relationship with the relevant entities and experts.
  • Coordinate with the Policy and Standard Unit and other relevant units at FSC International and support the development of any relevant documents and implementations for Türkiye.
  • Represent and support organizing FSC in relevant conferences and meetings.
  • Attend and represent Türkiye in FSC International relevant forums including the Supply Chain Community, EUDR community, annual staff meeting, sub regional meetings, webinars, etc.
  • Any other tasks as agreed with the National Representative.

Your profileEducation and Training:

  • University degree in forestry, supply chain management or an equivalent combination of education/vocational training and work experience relevant for the roles and responsibilities of this function.

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Sound understanding of the scope of FSC’s programs and activities, policies, and standards.
  • A practical understanding of EUDR and effects of Turkish forestry supply chain.
  • Understanding of commercial forest product value chain needs and market forces.
  • Good time management skills: ability to perform well while handling simultaneously several functions.
  • Ability to work independently and to achieve agreed objectives with little supervision.
  • Service-oriented attitude to work, as well as a strong sense for diligence and accuracy.

Digital Skills:

  • Good skills in the use of standard software packages (MS Office).
  • Adaptive to use and discover new technological solutions.

Language & Communication Skills:

  • Fluency in Turkish (spoken and written).
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

Others:

  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
  • Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization.
  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.
  • Familiarity at the general level with the scope of FSC’s programs.
  • Ability to represent FSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.

The Fine Print

  • Location: Türkiye, preferably Ankara but this appointment can be home-based on those days when not attending meetings or field visits.
  • Working Hours: Full time – 40 hours per week.
  • Contract: Service and License agreement
  • Duration of Contract: 2 years (extension possible)
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Frequent national travel and occasional international travel is required.
