Our client, a nonprofit organization making a meaningful difference in the community, seeks a bookkeeper to join their team.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented bookkeeper who thrives in a mission-driven environment and wants to make an impact!This is a part time role equivalent to 24 hours a week that pays a full salary.What You’ll DoAs the Full Charge Bookkeeper and sole point of contact for the organization’s accounting operations, you will:
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and donor contributions.
- Process payroll, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations (CPP, EI, income tax).
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and prepare journal entries.
- Produce monthly financial statements and assist in annual budgeting.
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations, including T3010 and GST/HST filings.
- Support the annual audit process and collaborate with external auditors.
- Administer employee benefits, such as RRSPs and health insurance.
What We’re Looking ForTo succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (nonprofit experience is an asset).
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and CRA compliance requirements for nonprofits.
- Experience with fund accounting (restricted and unrestricted).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CRA filings (T3010, GST/HST).
- Experience with grant accounting and payroll processing in Canada.
