How can you make a difference?

The Malaysia Country Office saw exponential growth in number and income of Pledge Donors in the last 5 years. It is expected that by the end of 2025 Malaysia Country Office will have an estimated 200,000 Pledge Donors contributing to both Country Programme and Global Regular Resource funds. It is the objective of the office to develop internal resources, skills and experience to maximise fundraising opportunities for newly recruited and existing pledges, high net worth individuals and corporates to ensure growth of income from Private Fundraising Sector through effective analysis and efficient use of tools, systems and processes.

The position of Fundraising Officer (Business Insights Analyst) at the NO-B/NO-2 level in the Malaysia Country Office (MCO), in the section of Private Sector Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP), reports to the Fundraising Specialist (Business Intelligence and Systems), which is at the NO-C/NO-3. 

Under the supervision of the Fundraising Specialist (Business Intelligence and Systems), the incumbent will be responsible to lead the development and execution of strategies and rapid response insights for best practices and decision-making processes to optimize the fundraising operation towards maximizing the income and improving supporter retention. The incumbent is also responsible to identify market data and information that may impact fundraising and operational performance, then incorporate them for cross analysis and investigation contributing to strengthening of fundraising and operational strategies and efforts. This role will be a key asset for the Private Sector Fundraising & Partnerships team, contributing substantially towards its income growth, and taking fundraising to an advanced level.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

1. Analytics Reporting and Insights Generation

  • Support fundraising channel owners with advanced analytic solutions in order to address business problems such as conversion rate improvements, hypothesis generation for AB testing, path to conversion and Marketing Mix Modelling techniques to measure incremental gains from all fundraising channels. 
  • Build analytic dashboards that present the fundraising pipeline from end-to-end include all campaign performance markers and generate insights towards maximization of revenue. 
  • Present and communicate analytical findings and business insights to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to align measurements and performance and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
  • Work with fundraising team colleagues to improve donor engagement and retention activities by using various data sources (CRM, Payment, Online, Offline data, etc).  

2. Analytics and Fundraising 

  • Provide specialist data analytics and fundraising knowledge including local knowledge such as market research, data, and information to identify opportunities and gaps for fundraising and operational optimization.
  • Provide input into PFP’s overall strategic planning with analytics strategy.
  • Ability to utilize (not limited too) quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques, predictive modelling, then develop recommendations and solutions for optimization.
  • To identify inefficiencies in processes, uses cases and business.
  • To identify data quality issues.
  • Maximize income, supporter engagement and income.
  • Support teams in maximizing opportunities through leveraging analytical and marketing tools and technology.  

3. Analytics and Tracking 

  • Manage and implement business and data analytics, champion first party data tracking methodologies and have a strong understanding of data collection best practices from various sources (GA4 360, IVR, CMS, etc) in line with Global Data and Analytics team standards and recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of data and how it can be used and blended with other first party data sources to provide a holistic supporter 360 view.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns with complex data sets from multiple sources to inform project planning, resource allocation, and decision making.
  • Ability to work in data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Salesforce environment and build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support acquisition and retention efforts (desirable).
  • Deliver actionable and timely insights and recommendations.
  • Be part of the implementation team on the roadmap for fundraising insights technology solutions including the online fundraising platform, email platform, analytics platform, etc.
  • Leverage Knowledge Management for improved analytics results, identifying, sharing, and replicating case studies and best practices across the office. 

4. Other

  • Support the development of investment plans, business cases and opportunities as required.
  • Advice on investment allocation and support the development of investment applications, as well as the subsequent implementation and monitoring of these programs.
  • Support for emergency fundraising in addition to these duties, the incumbent will also provide support in the event of a significant media-driven emergency.
  • Work with external vendors in support of the above objectives.
  • Risk management: the incumbent will remain sensitive to risk in the programs that the incumbent is supporting and escalate as necessary.  

5. Work closely with all teams in Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) teams, implementing partner and agencies to ensure project and requirements alignment of needs and scope.

6. Ensure that all relevant data and reporting needs from all PSFR team are established and successfully implemented.

7. Lead efficient and timely contract procurement and invoice process and any other.

8. Manage budget to ensure funding is always available.

9. Manage all consent, licenses, and other agreements with UNICEF third parties and ensure that all contracts are kept up to date in the VISION system and all invoices are processed and paid on time.

10. Ensure that all UNICEF procedures are always followed.

11. Other task assigned by Fundraising Specialist (Donor Management).


To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant in the following areas: Marketing, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Computer Science and another relevant technical fields. Other additional training in a related field: Advertising, Marketing, SEO, Data aggregation and visualization, Salesforce, SAS etc. is an asset.
  •  A minimum of 2 years of in-depth working experience in data and business analytics and tracking, data integration, data modelling techniques, campaigns, marketing and fundraising areas. 
  • Experience in leading and managing cross-functional, multi-expert teams to develop and execute business insights solutions is desirable. Proficiency in the use of Salesforce, MarketingCloud and any other supporter engagement system required to implement the strategies. 
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in Data modelling techniques, Big Data and Technology Innovation.
  • Proven track record in managing and manipulating large and complex structure and unstructured datasets.
  • Experience in data aggregation and visualization techniques and tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc). Ability to analyze financial data such as ROI.
  • Ability to draft clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Pleasant personality with influencing skills to drive decision through effective consultation and advisory
  • Knowledge of computer systems and architecture, database, internet navigation and various office applications, specifically Salesforce. 
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
