Job description
The General Packaging sets up and operates machinery and equipment that manufactures coatings (paint, lacquer, stain, aerosols, and chemicals) or paint roller covers. Computes amounts and/or weights of finished products from standard formula, and monitors filling/finishing process. Inspects finished product to ensure it meets specifications following standard operating procedures. Maintains record of finished product issued and inventory of supplies on hand and receives raw materials.Scheduled Days: Monday through FridayResponsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).1. Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for work area. Uses machines and hand equipment to package and/or assemble finished product.a. Performs setup of machines and equipment to prepare for production.b. Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions; Makes minor adjustments to machine to set guides or clear away damaged product; stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.c. Feeds product to conveyors, and unloads packaged product.2. Replenishes packaging supplies and mounts supplies on feeding devices.3. Inspects completed package to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.4. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.5. May be required to load and unload trucks manually or using a forklift truck.Education & Experience· High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.· 0-1 years of experience, preferably in Manufacturing or similar industry.· Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Licenses & Certifications: N/APhysical Requirements· Balancing, Climbing, Crouching, Hearing, Kneeling, Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Repetitive Motion, Seeing, Sitting, Standing, Stooping, Talking, Typing, Visual Acuity, Walking.· Must have ability to work with chemicals, paints, solvents and wear a respirator.· Normal physical agility, which includes the ability to maneuver body while in place. Must be able to stand the majority of the day, walk up to 5 miles a day, bend, reach, twist, and lift.· Normal physical strength to handle and/or move objects up to 75 pounds, taking frequency into consideration.Work Environment:· The work is typically active and physical in nature and requires normal accessibility to all work sites required of the position. The position may require extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.· The position is typically working in areas where air conditioning is unavailable and may be exposed to chemicals that are routinely present in the Company’s paint manufacturing facility.Travel: N/A
