Role Introduction / Overview:Lead Analyst within the Product Control team in London, responsible for oversight of daily P&L and Balance Sheet reporting for the Global FX business. Involves driving improvements to the control infrastructure, meeting external reporting requirements specific to the business and closely liaising with the trading desk, risk management and other areas within Finance.Business / Team Overview:Product Control is responsible to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the bank’s books and records in coordination with the Finance team. The overall objective of this role is to drive efforts to control and support data integrity and general ledger reconciliation, profit attribution and new activity analysis, and product P&L and balance sheet reporting. The role is aligned to the Global FX product, which undertakes market-making and hedging activity in currencies and local market interest rate cash and derivative products globally, operating in over 140 different currencies across 83 centres.Some of the key responsibilities in the role:

  • Supervision of P&L and balance sheet with effective validation and control. This will include on-going communication with Senior Traders within the FX business, as well as timely and transparent communication of results with insightful commentary on drivers such as P&L attributions, market changes, new trading activity, and trading strategies.
  • Drive improvements to the control infrastructure. Ability to challenge standard process and procedures to improve effectiveness of performance reviews and documentation of new trades, understanding the structure, associated risks and the P&L generated on them.
  • Understand the Price Verification and other Fair Value Adjustment processes and impacts on P&L.
  • Facilitate new product approvals and/or structured transaction reviews.
  • Actively participate in month-end close to ensure legal entity and region results are consistent between management P&L and general ledger, and balance sheet accounts are properly substantiated.
  • Ad-hoc projects that arise relating to further streamlining (or retirement) of existing systems or assisting in the implement in the introduction of new systems.
  • Help to shape new procedures and policies regarding the Product Control environment in light of new regulations or recommendations

This is an integral member of the Product Control team, working across multiple locations to help define and drive forward a common global vision.What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you:

  • Experience in derivative products, or in a relevant role that is product and accounting-focussed e.g. Risk Management, Price Verification, Audit
  • Strong control mindset – able to determine strategic direction and influence the control framework
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and summarise this for senior stakeholders
  • Ability to negotiate and strong people skills
  • Able to perform effectively within a time-pressurised environment
  • Ability to put knowledge of financial principles into P&L and Profit Attribution Analysis
