Would you like to gain valuable experience of international research collaboration and global challenge-led research?We are looking for a current Leeds student to join us as an Intern in a professional office environment, in an organisation recognised for its high quality of academic provision, commitment to excellence, and good practice. Our Internships are designed to enhance your employability and as such you will develop key skills and experience for your CV, including teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, organisation, high-quality administration, and project development.The Global Research Development Team (GRDT) within the Research and Innovation Service (RIS) helps to deliver the University’s International Strategy. We work adjacently to academics to develop international research and innovation (R&I) funding proposals and collaborations that address global challenges and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) agenda. The academics we work with are addressing challenges such as food security, climate change, and access to low-cost healthcare.We manage the University’s participation in international research networks including the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN). The WUN brings together 24 leading comprehensive research universities in a collaborative partnership to advance research and education on major global challenges. Capitalising on the geographical and cultural diversity of members across six continents, WUN enriches their shared experience, and brings together distinctive constellations of talent to address problems of real significance.We are looking for an Intern, to support us in the profiling, monitoring and reporting of activities with the WUN. This role will involve desk-based research on the WUN member universities, for use in profiling documents and briefing notes, which will be used to inform strategic decision making and reports for senior leaders within the University. As the WUN Intern, you will also update and maintain the team’s projects database with WUN activities, and extract and present data for use within the reports.With an interest in pursuing a career in research management and administration, you will have excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to complete tasks to agreed deadlines. You will also have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team; with a positive and proactive approach to problem solving and making improvements. Strong IT skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office products (particularly Word and Excel) are essential.HoursThis role has variable working hours. On average, this will be about 7 hours per week, worked flexibly between the needs of the team and the intern’s availability.Internship requirementsThe WUN intern vacancy is open for University of Leeds student’s only.
