The Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee learns and gains valuable, real-life experiences.
We are looking for 2 apprentices to join our Global Supply Chain and Logistics team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). Every engine or piece of equipment we build starts with the components or raw materials that evolve into products to build a better world. Our Global Supply Chain and Logistics team take responsibility for ensuring all have the materials they need, when and where they need them, to meet customer demand.
Our apprentices will:
earn a competitive salary package, starting at c. £23,950 per year,
receive 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays,

In collaboration with our partnered training provider, , our 3-year degree apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities. Alongside on-the-job training supported by relatable mentors, apprentices will spend at least 20% of their working hours completing university-based learning leading to nationally recognised qualifications through the apprenticeship standard:

As part of this apprenticeship apprentices are required to attend university on a day release basis, and therefore will be required to travel.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship apprentices can apply for Chartered Manager status .
The Experience
During the apprenticeship you will be on a rotational training programme and given the opportunity to experience different functions within Supply Chain and Logistics, designed to expose you to the multiple teams and responsibilities within the department. You’ll learn from and work closely with our experts and improve your knowledge in multiple functions, including some of the following: Orders Management, Material Planning, Master Production Scheduling, Data Analytics, Exports, Imports, Despatch Planning, Global Material Distribution, Packaging and New Product Introduction.
You will also work closely with our key process partners and teams around the business including Purchasing, Quality, Business Resources and Sales. Providing a great opportunity to start building your network and knowledge base to allow you to develop and thrive. Work will include, but not be limited to:
Management of Customer Accounts i.e. orders received, delivery schedules and Customer Service.
Administration of Supplier Schedules ensuring the Right Part, at the Right Place, and at the Right Time.
Engine Build Program scheduling and maintenance, to assist the production track in running smoothly and at optimal capacity.
Processing of documentation for the compliant Import & Export of goods.
Data Analytics and maintenance of Data Visualisation dashboard and reports (including use of software such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI).
Entry requirement
GCSEs: Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above.
A-Levels: Minimum of 96 points from 3 A-Levels
NOTE: Equivalent academic qualifications to the above requirements welcome. You can apply with predicted grades. If you’re successful at the interview stage, the job offer will be conditional on you achieving the required grades before September 2024.

Post apprenticeship
Following the successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress into a job role in one of the functions you experienced throughout the rotational programme. We will continue to provide you with the training and support you need to be successful at Caterpillar.

Recruitment Process
Stage one – Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application; this must be done before the closing date of the role that you’re applying for. Once we reach the close date, we will begin reviewing all our applications, this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.
Stage two – Assessment Centre: The half day assessment centre (i.e. interview) will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. Each will consist of a group exercise, an interview and a presentation. Details will vary depending on the career area/role you are applying for. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.
Stage three – Offer: After the assessment centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our chosen candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible.
We hold an Engagement Day for all new apprentices to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the facility before your employment start date. Apprentices will join the business in September 2024.
