Wakehurst, Kew’s Wild Botanic Garden in Sussex, is seeking a project assistant for our annual winter light trail, Glow Wild at Wakehurst in Sussex.This is an exciting opportunity to support key parts of Kew’s role: inspiring a sense of awe and wonder for the natural world and extending our reach. We do this by creating magical memories in nature for our 3500+ visitors a night during the Glow Wild season, whilst also contributing valuable funds to support Kew’s vital work.You’ll be an integral part of our small, yet resourceful delivery team, assisting the Glow Wild Producer and Creative Lead. (PDF, 134.53kb)More detailsThe ideal candidate will be an adaptable and unflappable administrator with a can-do mentality and the flexibility to turn your hand to a variety of tasks. You’ll be self-motivated and proficient in managing your own time according to priorities. Equally, you’ll have strong practical skills, and a love of the outdoors. Overall, the role requires a creative, flexible and organised team player, with a strong logistical head.The role is offered as a flexible, part-time opportunity. Hours vary throughout the year to accommodate the Glow Wild annual cycle. During February to August, the equivalent of 1 to 2 days per week can be expected, jumping to 3 – 4 days during the peak work period from October to January. As we operate across the holiday period, long periods of leave will not be granted during this time.The successful applicant would ideally also be part of the event’s delivery team on the ground – working approximately 10 evenings during the event’s run. Event dates for 2024 are 27 November – 1 January (non-consecutive nights).This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction.
