We are looking for a salaried GP to join our small and friendly Practice team in Longtown, North Cumbria.Main duties of the jobCPD Opportunities and portfolio / special interest career options.Teaching / supervision of medical students.Duty doctor, Telephone consultations, face-to-face clinics, flexible working possibilities, working with eConsult, accuRx and EMIS Web.About usLongtown Medical Centre is a small practice based in Longtown in Cumbria. The following list is not exhaustive:

  • Provide high quality medical services to patients registered with the practice.
  • Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS/PMS (17c) Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts.
  • Undertake duties such as prescription signing, prescribing reviews, telephone advice, triage, duty doctor, in accordance with the rota.
  • Manage long-term conditions in accordance with practice and national clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe generically where possible and in accordance with the practice formulary.
  • Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients
  • Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Practice evidence-based medicine.
  • Take ongoing responsibility for patients with difficult and complex problems including consistent follow-through.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential

  • MBBS or MBChB
  • Full GMC registration
  • On the Medical Performers List (and never removed for a detrimental reason)
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Membership of a recognised defence union
  • Ability to provide complete details of
  • employment history

Desirable

  • FamPlan. Cert or DFFP/FFFP MRCGP/nMRCGP DRCOG
  • Or other relevant post-graduate qualification

ExperienceEssential

  • Experience in primary care and working within a multidisciplinary
  • team.
  • Experience of primary care clinical systems.

Desirable

  • Interest in service development
  • Experience of clinical audit

Clinical skillsEssential

  • Sound clinical knowledge and commitment to high quality clinical
  • care.
  • The ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
