Job Title: Grade 1 Operator – Utilities

Location: We are seeking a Grade 1 Operator to join our Utilities department at our Pencoed, Bridgend factory.

This role will include working a Days Shift Pattern with additional shift allowance included – rotating 6.00am – 2.00pm and 10.00am – 6.00pm (one weekend in 4).

Your Future Team:

The Utilities department is part of our Production and Operations team and is a crucial part of ensuring that the front end of the Manufacturing process is working as efficiently as possible.

What you will be doing:

  • Checks with the Yard Supervisor at the start of day to understand the priorities and receive direction.
  • Daily drain inspection and sampling.
  • Support the management of Process Water across site.
  • General cleaning of Yards, Cement Briquette Plant, Rod Mill, Charging Conveyors & Furnace Buildings.
  • Assist with down day cleaning across plant – High pressure water jetting, sack and slab filter replacement.
  • The operation of mobile plant – fork lift truck, bob cat loading shovel, front loading shovel, scissors lift and cherry picker, as required.
  • Assist with recycling product via the rod mill, and the subsequent recycling / disposal of pallets.
  • Collection, transport and blowing of fly ash pots in accordance with the factory instructions.
  • Receipt of raw materials and operation of the weigh bridge if required.
  • Provide cover for other areas of plant as required – Rod Mill, Binder and Cement Briquette Plant.
  • Must also be flexible and willing to work in other areas of the factory as required i.e. Production lines & Fabrication.
  • Makes adjustment and minor repairs to equipment in the job holder’s control to ensure they are fully optimised.
  • Daily check of fluid levels and general condition of mobile plant under the job holders’ control. Reports defects or wear to the supervisor or shift maintenance.
  • Operates at a level of performance to maintain any agreed performance targets.
  • Ensures that any paperwork or documentation required is correctly completed and legible.
  • Maintains good housekeeping standards. By acting as the 6S Champion in accordance with the 6S system of work.
  • Complies with a safe method of working and reports any potential unsafe practices or hazards. Also adhere to relevant procedures to minimise the risk of fire.

  • Forklift licence (essential)
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Works on own initiative
