Group Accountant

Staffline Ireland are recruiting for a Group Accountant on behalf of an award winning company within their industry. The Group Accountant will be a trusted advisor to the senior members of the group, providing strong financial leadership and proactively contributing to the continued growth of the overall businesses. The Group Accountant will have full responsibility over all aspects of the finance function and will collaborate closely with other business areas including Operations and Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading on identifying and implementing internal and external commercial opportunities, including business growth, cost saving initiatives, revenue generation, and internal operational efficiencies;
  • Proactively work with operational team to develop, monitor and drive relevant Key Performance Indicators in order to assess group and individual staff performance;
  • Identifying and implementing automated processes, strengthened data and analytic capabilities and improved reporting controls to support the strategic direction of the business;
  • Identifying and implementing all required forward financial planning tools to include, but are not limited to:
  • Cashflow
  • Gearing ratios
  • Covenant Compliance
  • Production and presentation of financial models and / or forecasts which encompass integrated P&L/Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements;
  • Ensuring that the finance function has robust and compliant processes that are able to scale up as the business grows, producing timely, accurate financial information, ensuring disciplined financial controls and identifying opportunities for improving efficiencies within the function;
  • Ensure consistent reporting to and from the finance team for all departments in the group;
  • Provide clear and insightful rationale for variances in performance and in reporting on exceptions within the group on a proactive basis;
  • Developing and implementing a clear Financial IT strategy to a standard of “best in class” for the group and ensuring effective operation of same;
  • Monitor the group’s banking activities and ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place;
  • Effectively managing relationships with professional advisers, including auditors, banks, insurance brokers and solicitors;
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Group’s financial matters, including:
  • Planning
  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • Cashflow Management
  • Tax planning
  • Management of debtors and creditors
  • Reporting requirements
  • Oversight of payroll, audit process, financial reporting and compliance
  • The efficient and timely presentation of data relating to the Company’s financial performance, as and when agreed;
  • Expenditure control to include ensuring effective authorisation procedures for all expenditure;
  • Provide leadership to the finance team and effectively communicating with the finance team members their responsibilities, establishing systems, structures and clear reporting lines in order to maximise the efficiency of the finance function; and
  • Interacting and providing appropriate support to Managers in other business areas of the group.

Person Specification:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant business discipline;
  • 5 years similar experience;
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence and be prepared to travel to premises of the group;
  • Significant experience at senior level within a large customer driven environment;
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to demonstrate the management of a finance team including redefining roles and responsibilities of the team as required;
  • Experience of providing finance advice and strategy across a group of companies in a cohesive commercial manner;
  • Proven ability to produce and present robust financial projections with integrated profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements;
  • Proven ability to integrate with other business areas and effectively work with managers on implementing continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Proven ability to set targets, motivate and lead staff to achieve commercial targets;
  • Proven record of identifying and implementing cost saving initiatives, revenue generation, and internal operational efficiencies;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Track record in managing growth and expanding a group, with commercial and accounting experience regarding acquisitions, due diligence and the legal or financial documentation of said deals / transactions;
  • Proven record of identifying and maximising banking relationships using financial planning tools to include, but not limited to:
  • Cashflow
  • Gearing ratios
  • Covenant Compliance
  • Proven record of effectively managing relationships and negotiating with external third parties including professional advisers, auditors, banks, insurance brokers and solicitors;
  • Solid IT skills and knowledge, with a proven ability to implement new IT processes to improve efficiencies;
  • Strong knowledge of the workings of FRS 101/102 and the appropriate recognition of revenue throughout the group;
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards to enable the provision of annual accounts to the auditors of the business that have up to date disclosures and accounting standards used;
  • Proven record of leading on identifying and implementing external commercial opportunities, liaising with senior management to pursue and execute;
  • Comprehensive experience of identification and implementation of new finance systems, automated processes, strengthened data and analytic capabilities and improved reporting controls to support the strategic direction of the business; and
  • Strong knowledge of local property and construction industry.
