Overall Purpose of the Job:Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is one of The University of Manchester’s cultural institutions. We engage visitors with the science, heritage and culture of Jodrell Bank and the wider University of Manchester, through a year-round visitor experience including exhibitions, grounds, events and festivals. We were established in 2011 and typically welcome around 160,000 annual visitors a year. Jodrell Bank was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 in recognition of its internationally significant heritage, science and cultural impact.Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement welcomes approximately 23,000 pupils and teachers per year participating in the Education Programme with a further 3,000 visitors engaging with our Groups Programme. These programmes deliver a key aspect of our mission and generate significant income for the Centre.Following an internal secondment, we have a one-year fixed term vacancy for a Group Bookings Officer to provide administrative support and front-line customer service for all group bookings to Jodrell Bank, this to include general groups and with a significant focus on schools and educational visits. The role involves working closely with the Head of Education and Interpretation, Education Officer and Visitor Services Managers to ensure smooth operation of group programmes within the day to day running of the Centre. The main responsibilities include providing a friendly, efficient and informative service for teachers and group leaders making enquiries and bookings (over the phone, via email and face-to-face), supporting their planning, tracking and following up payments and maintaining accurate records. Additional responsibilities include supporting the booking and administration of special events, such as Uniformed Group visits and visits from Home Educator groups.What you will get in return:
