Charity People are working with Mothers Union on the search for a dedicated and passionate Head of Fundraising. This brand new role marks an exciting chapter in this esteemed charity’s history, and will have a primary focus on Direct Marketing and Legacy giving.
Mothers’ Union is a women-led volunteer Christian movement, with a membership of four-million people around the world, 36,000 of whom live in the UK and Ireland. Members express their faith through action in their local communities, aiming to create a world where every individual can reach their full potential, by ending poverty, injustice and violence.
Although a Christian movement they work with people of all faiths and none to develop communities, strengthen families and advocate for change. Members are active in 83 countries and work tirelessly to serve their communities to build a future where everyone thrives.
This incredible opportunity comes with a salary of £52,000 to £55,000, and a comprehensive benefits package including:
- 25 Days Annual Leave (plus office closure during the festive period, up to 4 days)

About The Role
Are you passionate about making a lasting impact and driving positive change? In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and management of a new individual giving programme. Your focus will be on growing revenue across a strategic direct marketing programme, encompassing both retention and acquisition activities.
As a key leader in our fundraising department, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation through testing, learning, and future-proofing this emerging income stream. You will bring a supporter-led approach to utilising data and insights, enhancing customer experience, and fostering long-term supporter engagement, with a focus on lifetime value. Additionally, you will take the lead on designing and producing all individual giving fundraising appeals and campaigns, ensuring their effectiveness and impact.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with the Director of Membership to develop and deliver an integrated direct debit supporter and membership programme. This will involve crafting strategies for upgrade, conversion, and retention, as well as creating engaging supporter materials that showcase the impact of our support.
You will play a pivotal role in the development and growth of our existing legacy programme, overseeing the administration of gifts in wills.

Mothers Union is a Christian Charity. Although there is no occupational requirement on the position holder to be a practicing Christian, they will have to engage with stakeholders who are connected to MU because of their Christian faith and engage with resources/materials on certain occasions that are connected to Christianity
