Job Opportunity: Head of IT – Independent SEND SchoolsLeader Group is thrilled to be partnering with a group of independent SEND schools to recruit a Head of IT. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work across independent SEN schools throughout the UK!Position – Head of ITLocation – RemoteSalary – Up to £50,000About the RoleAs part of our client’s ongoing growth, they are launching a new alternative learning environment to support young people who are currently unable to access traditional educational settings. This innovative initiative will initially serve our 26 Independent schools, offering a hybrid curriculum tailored to the needs of our young people. The curriculum will feature a diverse range of teaching approaches, including online learning, in-person tuition, support to re-engage with education, outdoor learning via our activity centres, and personal development programs.In addition to their schools, our client operates a significant number of Children’s Residential Homes. A critical component of this provision will be collaborating closely with the residential team to ensure that all looked-after young people have access to quality education.Hybrid WorkingThe role is primarily remote, with travel to their schools across the country as needed.Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Launch and take a strategic lead in developing the alternative education model for IT.
- Recruitment: Assist the Headteacher in recruiting Tutors to deliver the curriculum.
- Curriculum Development: Design innovative and bespoke IT curricula tailored to individual student needs, incorporating both online and face-to-face teaching.
- Collaboration: Work with Local Authorities nationwide to develop a high-quality IT provision, with the potential to expand this offering to young people outside of our organisation.
- Curriculum Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of the IT SEND curriculum across the group where necessary.
- Support & Guidance: Act as a Lead Practitioner, providing support and guidance to IT Teachers across our schools.
- Quality Improvement: Collaborate with Headteachers to enhance the Quality of Education across all our schools.
- Student Support: Design bespoke timetables and support plans for students accessing alternative education.
- Safeguarding: Partner with specialist safeguarding advisors to ensure comprehensive safeguarding and personal development plans are in place.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Expertise in IT Curriculum: Extensive experience in the IT curriculum across Primary and Secondary education.
- SEND Experience: Proven track record of supporting students with SEND.
- Qualified Teachers: Must hold QTS or QTLS.
- Innovative Educators: Passion for developing new provisions to support young people experiencing difficulties and disengagement from education.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of safeguarding practices and the appropriate channels of support within local authorities.
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience within senior leadership teams is highly advantageous.
