An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced systems professional to join the Student Administration and Academic Affairs (SAAA) department at the University of Southampton. The Head of Student Systems will lead a team of analysts, support manager and administrator to oversee and bring business focus to the provision of student systems support and development.

About the Role

This is an important role that requires collaboration across the organisation to deliver effective support to users of student systems, ensure applications are up to date and facilitate utilisation of the full functionality of technologies in line with the systems architecture, to meet business requirements and achieve the University’s strategic priorities. 

You will be the lead contact for day-to-day response on student systems, keeping abreast of supplier releases and development roadmaps and providing expert advice. You will plan and organise the team’s operational activities, ensuring that work is allocated in accordance with agreed priorities and is delivered to the agreed time and quality expectations. You will lead innovation and implementation of creative solutions to day-to-day problems, ensuring working practices and associated system documentation are reviewed, updated and maintained. 

About You

You will already have experience in systems management, including assessment of business requirements, planning and coordinating delivery of upgrades and improved functionality and provision of day-to-day support. 

You will have a track record of leading and developing people and teams, managing resources and risks. You will need to demonstrate creativity, resilience and the ability to foster and maintain a positive working environment.  

You will have a flexible and highly professional approach, a commitment to excellence in service quality, demonstrate excellent direct and indirect communication skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels using a range of strategies to remove obstacles and achieve quality outcomes.
