As part of our growth strategy, we are looking to recruit an experienced and ambitious Health and Safety Consultant to work closely with current and future clients to support them in developing, maintaining and improving their Health and Safety Management system.
You would be working alongside the Head of Retained Services as part of a team of Health and Safety and HR consultants. This role will involve being a first point of contact for our health and safety clients, our consultancy clients and to identify health and safety needs of existing and potential new clients.

Job Status: Permanent, Full Time (Part time work would also be considered)
Reporting to: Senior Health and Safety Consultant

What would you be responsible for?
Health and Safety Advice & Support / Client Management
- Effective provision of Health and Safety Supports to a portfolio of clients across a diverse range of sectors.
- Providing technical expertise and specialist advice on a broad range of health and safety issues including but not limited to safety audits, onsite health, and safety compliance reviews, compiling safety statements, risk assessments and control measures.
- Meeting clients to provide on-going support on health and safety issues.
- Providing proactive health and safety guidance and support and managing complex issues arising from compliance through to best practice.
- Maintaining documentation and preparing reports as required to ensure compliance and support the effective conclusion of occupational health and safety issues in line with legislative requirements and ISO standards as appropriate.
- Provision of health and safety deliverables on consulting work for key clients in line with a pre-agreed proposal, budget, and timeframes.
- Supporting and/or delivering key health and safety training programmes –
IOSH , DSE / Ergonomics Assessments. * Contributing as a team member to support your colleagues across a range of H&S initiatives.
- Keeping clients up to date with health and safety legislation and relevant regulations and ensuring policies, procedures and processes are updated to reflect not just compliance but best practice.
Existing Client and Strategic Partners
- Liaise with existing clients to discuss, understand, and plan their future health and safety requirements.
- Progress the development of incremental health and safety business with existing clients.
- Advise and build client solutions based on their health and safety challenges using your experience and vast resources available.
- Attend and participate in health and safety events for identified key Strategic Partners to the business, to build and deliver upon our annual plans.
Internal
- Work closely with the Senior Health and Safety Consultant, HR and Employment Law Manager and Business Development team to identify new health and safety business needs of existing and new clients.
- Support individual consulting team members in relation to client / project related health and safety queries and challenges, in an outcome focused manner.
- Propose innovative ways to improve the health and service offering and develop health and safety toolkit for the purposes of the client experience.
Continuous Learning
- The role requires ongoing learning and development in terms of keeping abreast of health and safety legislation and regulations, health and safety trends and best practice, which is encouraged and supported by the Company.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and values alignment to meet the demands of the role:
Qualifications
- Ideally Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, or equivalent
- IOSH Chartered or Graduate Member
- QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer Manual Handling or equivalent
- ISO Internal Auditor desired
- Full clean driving license, access to a car and ability to travel is required
Experience
- Minimum 2 years Health and Safety Experience within a busy Health and Safety environment, across multiple sectors or consulting practice.
- Significant experience of managing a range of complex health and safety issues and initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety law and practices and demonstrated application of same through risk assessment processes.
- Significant health and safety project management experience
- Experience of delivering training / presentations.
