Change Grow Live are a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our Service Users lives, offering support and respect in a safe environment, treating each user as an individual and working with them to find the right treatment and care options.Our core values are ‘Be open, be compassionate and be bold’ and our team members apply these daily to achieve our mission of helping people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to join the Psychosocial Substance Misuse Service at HMP/YOI Isis who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs.The Health and Wellbeing Coordinator will lead on the delivery of a suite of health and wellbeing group interventions including but not limited to: life skills, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, positive relationships, managing emotions, harm reduction, naloxone and peer identified health priorities designed to complement the psychosocial intervention treatment offer.As a Health and Wellbeing Coordinator with Change Grow Live you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be.Location: HMP Isis Thamesmead
Full Time Hours: 37.5 per weekFull Time Salary : £27,449.53 – £31,529.41 pro rata for pat time hours, depending on experienceAllowances: £2163.27 Outer London Weighting, Pro RataContract Type: PermanentResponsibilitiesAbout the Role

  • Deliver a suite of health and wellbeing sessions to include: life skills, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, positive relationships, managing emotions, harm reduction, naloxone and peer identified health priorities designed to complement the psychosocial intervention treatment offer.
  • Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups that are tailored to the specific needs on the service users.
  • Ensure robust health promotion and harm reduction messages are integrated throughout the prison setting.
  • Lead on substance misuse promotion of health and wellbeing across the establishment, linking into national campaigns and developing enhanced links with the prison gym.
  • To design and deliver workforce development and training on alcohol and drug awareness for all relevant staff within the establishment.
  • Provide on-going support and refresher training for those who have received training, with target audiences to include healthcare partners and prison staff.
  • Lead on the development and production of alcohol and drug-related resources for service users and at risks groups to reduce harm, raise awareness and promote services, liaising closely with Public Health Specialists and Health Promotion colleagues to ensure joined-up working.

About You:

  • Understanding and knowledge of current developments and priorities in the substance misuse field at a national and local level.
  • Understanding of current substance misuse prevention and harm minimisation issues.
  • Understanding of current health promotion issues and debates including behaviour change theories and quantitative and qualitative models of evaluation.
  • Understanding of the Making Every Contact Count framework.
  • Ability to build and maintain networks and effective working relationships with a full range of health professionals, statutory and community services.
  • Experience of delivering harm reduction interventions for both alcohol and drugs in one to one and group work settings.
  • Understanding of harm reduction in relation to safeguarding children and adults.
  • Experience of working with groups and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.

And the ability to:

  • Have the experience and ability to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate effective Health Promotion and Harm Reduction strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills
  • Ability to be flexible in working arrangements and work to tight deadlines.
