We are looking for a Health & Injury Management Advisor to support the health and industrial hygiene program at Rio Tinto Kennecott operations in the Health & Safety team.

This role is a great opportunity to manage injury and case management for this diverse and multi-faceted operation. Reporting to the Health Manager and working in a collaborative community, you will be:

  • Govern injury/illness and case management, collaborating closely with the key stakeholders about workers’ compensation claims, medical evaluations, return to work assessments and governance of cases.
  • Accountability for the site-wide injury/illness management and return to work programs.
  • Ensure compliance with injury/illness reporting procedures including internal, local, state, and OSHA/MSHA injury//illness reporting requirements.
  • Coach and develop leaders and the Health & Safety team to enhance their skills and effectiveness in injury/illness and case management.
  • Maintain and manage incident injury/illness records in Cority Case management module, ensuring accurate and secure record-keeping, including time data.
  • Completion of Incident Command File Notes for all recordable injuries/illness and subjective musculoskeletal cases and inform key stakeholders promptly.
  • Maintain tables and key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational indicators for managed injury/illness cases and worker’s compensation cases.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Degree and qualification in paramedical science, nursing or related allied health discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in fitness for work requirements, worker’s compensation, injury management and return to work programs.
  • Experience working in mining or similar heavy industry.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, quality checks, and procedure review.
  • Familiarity with incident investigations and risk assessment techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all levels of audience.
  • Proficiency in computer tools like MS Office, Excel, MS Project.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter, and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
