The successful candidate will be Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certified up to 33kV and responsible for overseeing the safe operation, switching, and high-voltage work at the project sites. This role involves working closely with the Services team and assisting in broader tasks beyond HV duties. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment,with strong experience in high-voltage systems, switching procedures, and compliance with UK standards.Responsibilities:
- Lead HV switching operations up to 33kV, including isolation, earthing, and safe switching processes.
- Oversee operational BESS sites, ensuring high-voltage systems are functioning optimally.
- Ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, CDM Regulations, and other relevant UK standards.
- Issue permits and safety documentation for high-voltage activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and prepare method statements for HV-related tasks.
- Provide leadership to onsite electrical teams and manage contractors during site activities.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and service teams.
- Report directly to the Senior Commissioning Manager, ensuring alignment on all project objectives.
- Monitor and report on the performance of HV systems, identifying and addressing any issues.
- Ensure maintenance and operation procedures are implemented effectively across operational sites.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certified up to 33kV.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- Extensive experience in high-voltage systems, particularly in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or utility-scale energy infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage safety standards and industry best practices.
- Experience managing both commissioning and operations of high-voltage infrastructure.
- Familiarity with UK electrical safety regulations, such as the Grid Code.
- Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., SMSTS/NEBOSH/IOSH).
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to assist in a broad range of tasks across commissioning and operational phases.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in the renewable energy or utility-scale energy storage sector.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring of BESS operations.
- Project management certification such as PRINCE2 or APM.
