About the Role:Newcastle College University Centre is seeking a qualified Higher Education Access and Participation Coach with a CELTA or TEFL qualification. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and committed to supporting our diverse student population, including those for whom English is a second language. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the academic journey of our students, focusing on widening participation and delivering specialised support to help them achieve their full potential.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised coaching and develop support resources tailored to the needs of widening participation students, with a special emphasis on those with English as a second language.
  • Design and conduct workshops to improve academic and digital literacy skills, addressing the unique challenges faced by the target student cohort.
  • Create electronic resources and support materials that are accessible across various levels and subject areas, assisting both students and staff.
  • Work closely with FE and HE teaching and support teams to implement proactive strategies for student support. Coordinate with internal entities to develop research and study skills.
  • Track student engagement, monitor progress, and report on the effectiveness of support initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in student outcomes.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • CELTA or TEFL qualification
  • Relevant Level 6 degree or PGCE
  • Experience working with young people and adults with diverse abilities
  • Proven track record in delivering workshops and training sessions in Higher Education settings
  • Demonstrable experience in widening access and student support, particularly for students with English as a second language
