We are looking for a highly skilled, passionate and versatile Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Barts Heart Centre. You would be working within a tertiary cardiac and respiratory centre which ranges across the patient pathway from intensive care to the wards with great team support and opportunities.The Barts Heart Centre comprises of 58 critical care beds, a 40 bedded coronary care unit (CCU), specialist cardiac and aortovascular surgery. There is a great variety of cardiovascular, respiratory and cancer patients from cardio-thoracic, heart failure and cardiology to early electrophysiology and heart attack patients.The ideal candidate will have a passion for Occupational Therapy; excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm with the ability to work autonomously and as a part of the wider MDT.Within Bart’s we offer a robust teaching and training programme with the opportunity to complete Quality Improvement and Audit projects. The successful candidate will work alongside an established team of occupational therapists that are committed to innovation and ongoing development of the service and themselves as professionals. The team is about to begin undertaking research in an international, multi-centre study into cognitive, physical and quality of life outcomes following an out of hospital cardiac arrest, being part of a site based critical care delirium working group project and critical care follow-up clinic.Main duties of the jobTo play a major and specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with respiratory, cardiology, cardiac and neurological conditions, determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and the occupational therapy treatment programme required, commencing in the intensive care setting through to their hospital discharge.To be dynamic in developing efficient and effective occupational therapy working processes to assist in producing a fully multi-professional team approach across the patient pathway.To work with the Clinical Lead Therapist to develop the service to best meet changing health and social care agendas.The post is responsible for a team of staff in their clinical area and may be required to work across hospital sites and or more than one speciality area.About usBarts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. - Experience in specialist field(s) gained by experience in rotational position and specialist training to post graduate diploma level or equivalent.

- Practice placement educators training

- Candidates should have attained a level of experience proportionate to the competencies associated with this post
- Previous experience at a senior level i.e. band 6 working in a general rotation

- Evidence of CPD

- Experience of wheelchair prescription and pressure relieving techniques
