We set standards and provide specialist technical services and strategic leadership on the practical, technical and scientific aspects of the care, repair, maintenance and adaptation of the historic built environment. We do this by developing and promoting evidence-based technical guidance and best practice to support those who care for and make decisions about the stewardship of the historic environment.This is a one year post that will support Historic England’s commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2040. You will be part of the Carbon and Sustainability Team who lead on implementing our Carbon Reduction Plan. Our work programme is set up around several workstreams focusing on travel, staff behaviour change management, waste management, buying goods and services and ICT work.You will support the Historic England to Net Zero leads of each of these workstreams to develop and implement key projects within the net zero programme, as well as support our work to meet wider government commitments, such as the Greening Government Commitments.With experience in stakeholder engagement and projects, you’ll be enthusiastic about helping our organisation become more sustainable and climate resilient through the implementation of our Carbon Reduction Plan. You’ll understand basic Net Zero requirements and environmental sustainability measures.
