Several of them serve as chief of gastroenterology at nearby hospitals, and a number of them have been recognized as top-quality physicians in publications, including but not limited to: Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors New Jersey, and US News Health – US News & World Report.We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Per Diem Histotechnician at our Digestive Healthcare Associates of Great Neck New YorkThe Histotechnician responsibilities consist of;
- Processing specimens received in the laboratory with minimal supervision.
- Participating in the administrative and technical activities of the lab to ensure functions are uninterrupted and to ensure test results have integrity and validity.
- Performing all routine procedures to include accessioning of specimens, grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, labeling and distribution.
- Performing routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation.
- Preparing and maintains working solutions for routine H&E, special and IHC staining.
- Completing all routine and special requests for additional levels, recuts, special stains and immunohistochemistry.
- Performs necessary maintenance of all laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including but not limited to, the changing of instrument reagents used to process, stain and coverslip tissue and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot all equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- NY State License as a Clinical Laboratory Technician
- Associates degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- Basic computer skills
- Experience in a pathology laboratory is preferred.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard pathology laboratory equipment.This is a Per-diem roleHours are flexible but monday- Friday
