The Clinical Senior Lecturer will contribute to the clinical and intellectual life of the Institute and wider institution and research field of Oral Surgery/Oral and Maxillofacial dentist. As part of the CIC, they will be part of the wider dental team providing clinicalManagerial leadership to dentists, including training and development and supervision. They will make contributions to education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities in the subject area of Oral Surgery/Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. As part of the senior leadership team they are responsible for working with the Institute of Dentistry and the CEO, Clinical Director and Operations Manager to provide strategic support for education and quality assurance of placements and the services we offerMain duties of the jobMake some innovations in teaching and clinical care and learning through the development of teaching materials and clinical pathways with appropriate collaboration with Level 3 providers.Organise, design and deliver teaching and assessment as required. This will include delivering clinical care, lectures, classes and seminars in core and specialist subjects with due regard to best practice and the overall teaching strategy in the Institute;Act as a clinical supervisor/mentor providing effective support to staff and students, including referring to themselves for specialist services as appropriate.Actively contribute to clinical excellence and workforce development in the East of England with key stakeholders and using the University of Suffolk Dental CIC as a hub for innovation in teaching and clinical care.Support the development of junior colleagues and their career development through line management, coaching, mentoring and appraisals as appropriate;Make constructive contributions to the vision and leadership of the University of Suffolk Dental CIC as well as wider relevant bodies, such as learned societies;Engage in the wider NHS agenda (e.g. Equality & Diversity;;About usIf you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can beWe want you to be amazing!Would you like to make a difference and fulfil your greatest potential? - The post holder is required to have experience of leading a service and organisation in the field of Oral surgery and Oral/Maxillofacial surgery and maintain full registration with the General Dental Council. Medical Staff are advised to continue membership of one of the medical defence organisations.
- The postholder will hold an honorary contract with the relevant NHS Trust.
- The post-holder must have an awareness and understanding of clinical governance issues, and will be expected to participate in Clinical Governance activities related to their clinical work.
Desirable
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the named field.
- Experience of working with key stakeholders to take the field forward
- Experience of Level 2 and Level 3 clinical workload.
