We recognize the land and waters that have inspired our work and offer gratitude to those Indigenous peoples on whose territory we work, live and play.About the roleCanadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Hospital Liaison Specialist to join our dynamic Medical Laboratory & Stem Cell Services team in Ottawa.Within the Medical Laboratory and Stem Cell Services team, the Medical services and Hospital relationsteam is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services in all areas of hospital account management such as sharing disposition and inventory data, best practices, and National Advisory Committee on Blood and Blood Products (NAC) endorsed recommendations to optimize utilization and improve patient outcomes. The hospital liaison team also gather and analyze hospital customer demand intelligence to help optimize collections targets.Reporting to the Hospital Relations Manager, Medical Laboratory & Stem Cells Services, you will be responsible for influencing the optimization of inventory across the value chain, sharing business intelligence between Canadian Blood Services and hospitals, and supporting the evolution of hospital relationships.In partnership with Canadian Blood Services directors, managers, specialists and others as required, you will develop key relationships with hospital representatives and members of the health care community. You will assist in continuing to foster a positive image and reputation of Canadian Blood Services within the healthcare sector.Formula for success
- Harnessing your skills in relationship-building and communication, you will develop and foster productive relationships with hospital customers, including blood bank technologists, physicians, nurses, risk managers, and hospital administrators to ensure hospital requirements, concerns, and complaints are identified, monitored, and appropriately addressed.
- Capitalizing on your expertise in liaison management, you will act as a prime liaison between hospitals and Canadian Blood Services departments to advance customer satisfaction and ensure that service provided by Canadian Blood Services is delivered in a consistent and integrated manner.
- Utilizing your strategic insight, you will contribute to the strategic direction of hospital customer service by identifying key service areas requiring development and participating in the strategic planning process.
- Leveraging your advocacy skills, you will act as an advocate for hospitals within Canadian Blood Services, ensuring that the requirements of hospitals are considered in all aspects of Canadian Blood Services from strategic and project planning through to everyday business transactions.
- Leveraging your leadership abilities, you will play a lead role in promoting the objectives of Canadian Blood Services to provide a safe, secure, and cost-effective blood service to the hospital community and other healthcare stakeholders.
- Employing your presentation and communication skills, you will present and communicate Canadian Blood Services hospital customer service activities to the healthcare community and relevant stakeholders.
Perform other duties as required.Desired education and skills
- Registered Laboratory Technologist, or relevant post secondary level education in a Health Sciences profession with transfusion medicine experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in hospital transfusion medicine including supervisory experience.
- Strong customer service orientation as well as effective and strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment and the ability to work in a complex environment requiring sound judgement and flexibility.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in computer software and MS Office applications.
- Experience in blood component manufacturing and previous experience working in a regulated GMP environment is a strong asset.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and access to vehicle.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at our head office, 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, or 40 Concourse Gate Ottawa, Ontario 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
- There is a travel component required for this role, with the successful candidate expected to travel to hospitals within their provided region as necessary.
