Summary

The Department of Pediatric in the section of Hematology and Oncology is currently seeking an Assistant Professor (Hospitalist).

 

Scope of practice:

  • The preferred candidate is a physician who has completed a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship. This candidate would be hired at an Assistant Professor rank. Alternately a physician who has completed a General Pediatric or Internal Medicine-Pediatric residency could be considered and would be hired at an instructor rank.
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage inpatient care of Hematology/Oncology patients. Attends to patient/nursing needs on admitted inpatients as well as assists with new admissions.
  • May also be called to Emergency Department to assess patients.
  • Oversees junior level personnel including residents and advanced practice practitioners.
  • Supervises care they provide and provides education.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent degree.
  • Preferred: Board certified or board eligible for Pediatric Hematology-Oncology boards.
  • Alternate: Board certified or board eligible for General Pediatric boards
  • Prior to employment start date must obtain Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement.
  • Administration registration.
