The Engineering HR Shared Services (HRSS) team in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a HR Coordinator position. This position is responsible for HR operations related to search and hiring activities, employee relations, and other related duties in support of world-class engineering academic and administrative units. The HRSS team is a vibrant, welcoming group of individuals who are willing to invest in training and professional development for your long-term success in the field of HR at the Urbana-Champaign campus.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consult with and provide guidance to supervisors and employees in employee relations, performance management, professional development, etc.
  • Coordinate all search and hiring activities for faculty and staff positions working closely with a variety of stakeholders throughout the hiring lifecycle.
  • Communicate and ensure compliance with campus, college, and departmental leave practices and policies.
  • Facilitate robust, employee-focused onboarding and exit activities.
  • Process and coordinate job transactions, visa management, compliance/reporting efforts, etc. in support of the overall employee lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the HRSS team, share best practices, and help drive effective and efficient changes for the overall success of Grainger Engineering faculty and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
  • Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting HR policies and making subsequent recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR services in a university setting.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in or related to the aforementioned fields of study.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or related certification.
  • Experience providing HR services at the University of Illinois.
  • Experience with recruitment and talent management practices.
  • Experience with HRIS applications and workflows.
  • Experience with employees relations and professional development efforts.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple, complex duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Practical experience with UIUC business and HR policies, procedures, and application experience.
    Appointment Information
    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5020 – Human Resource Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The minimum salary is $65,000 for this position and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Hybrid work options may be available for this position after an initial training period, but with the requirement that onsite availability may be needed at any time with short notice. Work authorization is not available for this position.
