Location: Toronto (Hybrid 1-2 days in office)
Salary: Starting from $70,000 +

Position Overview:
As an HR Generalist, you will be integral in supporting their employees and driving HR initiatives forward. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a variety of HR functions, from employee relations and recruitment to HR policies, benefits administration and compliance, within a purpose-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
– Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries, providing clear guidance on HR policies and procedures.
– Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and reference checks, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and needs.
– Administer comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs to facilitate a seamless integration of new hires into the organization’s culture.
– Address and resolve employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans, while fostering a positive work environment.
– Conduct and organize training sessions on key topics such as diversity and inclusion, harassment prevention, and workplace safety, promoting a safe and inclusive workplace.
– Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and addressing employee inquiries, ensuring employees have access to essential resources.
– Maintain meticulous HR records and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, safeguarding the organization’s integrity and reputation.
– Support various HR projects and initiatives, such as performance appraisal processes, employee engagement surveys, and policy development, contributing to the continuous improvement of HR practices.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
– 5 years in HR roles, with a solid understanding of HR functions within a not-for-profit or similar setting preferred.
– Experience working as part of a small HR team in development mode; this role will be working closely with the VP to formalize and develop the HR function at a national level.
– Strong grasp of employment laws and regulations.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
– Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
– Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
– Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
– HR certification (CHRP) is a plus and highly valued.
