Our Human Resources department supports CASA’s commitment to promoting a productive and positive work environment for all its employees. The department reinforces HR best practices, provides guidance to employees and managers, offers interpretation of CASA’s Collective Agreement and keeps staff apprised of training and professional development opportunities. As the HR Business Partner, you will act as a catalyst for change and support the development of HR processes, foster relationships with people leaders and assist them with duties ranging from recruitment to labour relations. This portfolio includes our South and Central CASA Classrooms teams and our brand-new Calgary Trauma program. The HR Business Partner is an integral part of the HR department, supporting people leaders in ensuring their teams are high-performing and have a high workplace satisfaction.The HR Business Partner will:
- Provide advice and direction to management and employees on the application of HR policies, procedures and interpretation of the Collective Agreement.
- Work with employees at all stages of the employee life cycle to address employee concerns and questions.
- Advise on the development, implementation and evaluation of HR programs and services, making suggestions for improvements founded in best practice.
- Manage employee and labour relations issues, including conducting investigations, performance management, facilitated discussions and making recommendations for resolution.
- Spearhead the full recruitment cycle and work in tandem with the Human Resources Coordinator and provide advice and direction on issues related to recruitment and onboarding.
- Assist employees with benefits, short-term and long-term disability and WCB claims.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure HRIS data is accurate and reliable in conjunction with the HR Coordinator.
- Review HRIS reports, identify trends, issues and anomalies, and work with management to fully understand the impacts to CASA.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to the HR Coordinator to assist in skill building and succession planning.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of five years of HR generalist experience, which must include a minimum of three years labour relations experience.
- Experience working in a unionized, health care or mental health environment is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including recruitment, performance management, organizational development and diagnosis, diversity and inclusion, and employee and labour relations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop relationships while establishing trust and credibility with internal and external partners.
- A proven self-starter that is eager to learn and tackle multiple projects with competing timelines.
- Proven ability to shift priorities as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. The position is based in Calgary but may require some travel to Edmonton.
