We believe that our differences make us stronger.About the team:This position sits within our dedicated Japan Practice, based in our London office. The team is specialised in the UK inbound immigration matters, predominantly working with global Japanese companies of all sizes (including start-ups, SME’s and large listed companies), assisting with UK visa applications for expats and their families. The team also assists private clients.The team also has unparalleled expertise in advising on immigration compliance and assists with sponsor licence (renewal) applications/UKVI audits/fulfilling a wide range of sponsor duties and obligations. The team regularly arranges Japanese seminars, webinars, and newsletters, keeping all clients closely updated with immigration rule/policy changes.About the role:
As a team member under direct supervision, the Immigration Paralegal will assist in the day to day functions of the UK Inbound team including all aspects of casework and assisting in the preparation of applications. They will also assist in the preparation for and attend external meetings, marketing events and project work. You will also be part of growing the Japan practice by networking and undertaking other business development activities. The successful candidate for this role will receive world class training (both internally and in the role).Other key responsibilities will include and experience of these will be beneficial:

  • Preparing and delivering client presentations and best practice sessions
  • Assisting the Senior Paralegal with training
  • Act as caseworker as required on less complex cases
  • Support Paralegal/Senior Paralegals and Associates with the progression of more complex cases
  • Organise application packages
  • Handle applications including Skilled Worker, Global Business Mobility, ILR and other applications as directed
  • Draft emails, covering letters, application forms as directed with the use of precedents
  • General administrative support as required

About you:Ideally you will have previous experience within immigration or a client-facing professional role. A law degree is not required but a desire to develop your career within a corporate environment is essential. Fluent spoken and written Japanese is essential.Also required:

  • Displays professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors
  • Is able to learn procedural and processing requirements for various visa types
  • Builds knowledge of Firm and client processes
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and achieves high level of productivity

  • Meets assigned deadlines and communicates case progress/status/issues to supervisors

  • Demonstrates professionalism and confidence in all communications with their team as well as accuracy and proficiency in written communications
