Contract type: PermanentThe Inclusion and Alternative Provision (IAP) Team (replacing the Behaviour and Inclusion Support Service) supports the most vulnerable pupils to improve outcomes for learning and social and emotional well-being, promoting a trauma-informed approach to supporting pupils in school and working to reduce exclusions.The team is expanding to increase our capacity to support vulnerable pupils, to work in partnership with other teams to deliver improved services through a new SEMH pathway and to reflect new approaches to alternative provision in line with the National SEND Change Programme.In this new role you will work you will work closely with secondary schools, academies, alternative provisions, and families to improve attendance and educational outcomes for students aged 11-16 at risk of exclusion or missing their full educational entitlement. You will champion the needs of vulnerable pupils and work with schools to increase their skills and confidence in supporting pupils’ emotional well-being and managing pupils at risk of exclusion. As part of the IAP Team you will quality assure alternative provision services commissioned by LBC.It is an exciting time to join the team at the start of our journey to improve support for some of Luton’s most vulnerable pupils.Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

It is essential that you can organise your time effectively and be able to respond swiftly to emerging issues.As a skilled advocate, you will work closely with students, families, and schools to promote inclusion and entitlement to learning. You’ll be adept at critically evaluating school practices and translating evidence-based interventions into successful support systems. An understanding of statutory guidance, legislation related to exclusions, alternative provisions, and medical absences, as well as the SEN Code of Practice, is essential.This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.If you are passionate about improving educational outcomes for vulnerable students and have the expertise to drive inclusion, we encourage you to apply!

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken.
