Inclusion Support Worker

Wakefield Council

Job title:

Inclusion Support Worker

Company

Wakefield Council

Job description

The Featherstone Academy seeks two inspiring and ambitious ISWs to join our skilled and effective team. The successful candidates will have a genuine interest in working with children with additional needs and have the skills to motivate and engage students. This role would suit someone who aspires to teach and would like to gain some experience in a school setting. We are a small school with an inclusive culture and warm ethos, yet we have big ambitions to be a beacon of learning, aspiration and success for our local community.

The suitable candidates will hold GCSE A* – C or equivalent in English and Maths, have relevant experience of working with students and will have a sound understanding of how to support and facilitate the learning and progress of students. You will play a pivotal role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, therefore raising the standards of education attainment.

If you are considering a route into teaching, this is a perfect way to gain experience. With the appropriate qualifications, you could then go on to apply to train to teach with us on our exciting 1-year programme through the School Direct initiative in partnership with Leeds Trinity University and Leeds Beckett University.

The Featherstone Academy is part of The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, which also includes BBG Academy, Brayton Academy, Southway, UTC Leeds and the founding school, Rodillian Academy. The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust has a reputation for high expectations for all, a pioneering curriculum and excellent staff/student relationships. In return, the successful candidate will enjoy access to high quality CPD at all levels and the chance to work in an organisation that does things differently. Our academies are a place where staff can develop their skills, find their own style and methods of teaching, learn and grow alongside their students, and feel that they are making a real difference to the lives of those they teach. The Trust is committed to providing private school opportunities in a modern comprehensive environment. We believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness and this has made for harmonious and safe learning environments for our young people, and a supportive environment for staff.

This is a real opportunity for you to make your mark, and as a growing Multi Academy Trust with an excellent reputation and access to high-quality CPD for all, there are always opportunities for career development for ambitious and committed colleagues.
