Let our Talent team know if you need any adjustments throughout the process in whatever way works best for you.Job DescriptionThe role sits within the Tax team, and focuses on indirect tax transactions including balance sheet reconciliation, VAT compliance and reporting, along with cash forecasting and process improvement. The role will be responsible for preparing multiple balance sheet reconciliations related to global VAT and sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with Finance policy and maintaining the accuracy of financial records. This role requires strong experience in balance sheet reconciliations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.What you’ll be doing:Balance Sheet Reconciliation:

  • Prepare and maintain high quality balance sheet reconciliations for global VAT and sales tax accounts
  • Follow up with relevant team members to resolve outstanding queries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and process any necessary journals to ensure accurate ledger entries
  • Hold team members accountable for the accuracy and completeness of transactions posted or held on the ledger.

VAT Compliance and Reporting:

  • Work with advisors and manage VAT return compliance for designated international markets, ensuring adherence to local regulations and deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of other VAT returns covered by the team as required.
  • Support the processing of VAT payments and maintain accurate records for audit purposes. Coordinate with Treasury team to ensure that indirect tax payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Cash forecasting and process improvement
  • Provide support for cash forecasting activities related to VAT payments
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reconciliation processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to address VAT related issues and ensure compliance
  • Working with Fintech to improve and automate processes
  • Communicate effectively across departments to ensure all relevant financial data is accurate and up to date.
  • Support external auditors with providing appropriate supporting documentation, if requested.

QualificationsAbout you

  • Indirect tax experience (preferably ATT or CTA qualified), with strong understanding of VAT and sales tax processes.
  • Proven experience in preparing and completing balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.
  • Experience using Alteryx, PowerBI and SQL would be an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large data sets.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to details and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when working with large data sets;
  • A high standard of accuracy with financial data;
  • A logical approach to being able to present large volumes of data and analysis for review by management;
  • An ability to organise own work and to take initiative;
  • Commercial awareness
  • A flexible and open to change and a proactive approach
