By the end of February, the Individual Contractor will be expected to assist in reviewing applications, recommending appointments, organizing inaugural meeting and follow up regional meetings for 51 UNAI SDG Hub Co-Chairs. Selected person, will assist in drafting correspondence, scheduling one-on-one meetings, and creating content for website, weekly newsletter and social media platforms (X and LinkedIn). Moreover, the Individual Contractor will also assist in reviewing UNAI member applications, on a daily basis though an on-line form and require review according to the established criteria. The IC will also support day-to-day operations on the digital platforms, including website updates and maintenance, preparing weekly digital newsletter, organizing virtual meeting, and document digitalization, etc. The Individual Contractor will update the UNAI website, include weekly publication of news articles from UNAI members, posting of information about UNAI events within 24h, monthly update of the UNAI member list and posting of other content, as required.Work LocationNew YorkExpected durationTwo months, with potential extension depending on the status of funding.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe position is located in the Education Outreach Section within the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, supporting the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative. UNAI is an initiative that engages institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing to the realization of United Nations goals and mandates, including the promotion and protection of human rights, access to education, sustainability, and conflict resolution. The work to be undertaken by the Individual Contractor is to support the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) with onboarding a new cohort of UNAI SDG Hubs consisting of 71 universities around the world. There are 17 UNAI SDG Hubs, each corresponding a particular SDG Goal. Each of the 17 hubs will consist of a Chair/Co-Chairs along with 3 Vice Chairs – Vice Chair for Teaching, Vice Chair for Research, and Vice Chair for Outreach and Partnerships. The candidate will also continue move forward on the fundraising efforts to further UNAI mission and impact, a task that entails research, drafting of individualized letters and tracking correspondence. The process is expected to conclude within the two months. Completion of the work in a professional manner within the specified time frame will continue to facilitate the efforts of UN Academic Impact to engage with over 1,700 universities and colleges in over 150 countries. Outputs should be delivered in electronic format by email and saved on SharePoint. Assigned work will be tracked on a weekly basis during in-person meetings with the supervisor, UNAI manager.Qualifications/special skillsA recognized first-level University degree in international relations, media, and communications or any related field; At least one year experience in engaging with academic institutions, governmental stakeholders, or content creation; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Strong drafting and reporting skills; Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and digital organizing tools such as SharePoint; Previous experience with the United Nations is desired.LanguagesFluency in English is required.Additional InformationNot available.No FeeTHE UNITED NATIONS DOES NOT CHARGE A FEE AT ANY STAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS (APPLICATION, INTERVIEW MEETING, PROCESSING, OR TRAINING).
