About Teuk Saat 1001

Teuk Saat 1001 (www.teuksaat1001.com) is a Cambodian NGO, established in 2007. Our main mission is to develop water kiosks in the rural communities to improve the access of safe drinking water, in a sustainable manner. Teuk Saat 1001 installs new kiosks but also support the existing network of kiosks, by providing a range of services such as technical support, water quality monitoring and personalized coaching. Teuk Saat 1001, thanks its network of 340 active water kiosks throughout the country and its brand O-we, is serving over 1 million consumers, including 376,000 children receiving daily safe drinking water for free in primary schools. The initiative is employing over 1,100 people.

Teuk Saat 1001 is the local partner of the French non-profit 1001fontaines. 1001fontaines is also active in Madagascar, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

Teuk Saat 1001 is planning to revamp and upgrade its network, to increase the daily production and impact in the local communities where the infrastructures are in place. We are looking for a new position to support and standardize the development and implementation of the project, integrated into the local team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Engineer is responsible to support the design and the implementation of the innovation. He/she works closely with the technician supervisors and technicians to ensure the proper implementation of the project and guidelines.

Mission 1: Improve the current treatment process

  • Assess and survey equipment and technologies to solve field problems in kiosks (= sites)
  • Support the implementation of new technologies (UF, RO), including a UF pilot in partnership with the Veolia Foundation
  • Design and define the follow-up process of the pilots

Mission 2: Elaborate the upgrade and revamp national plan

  • Participate to the design of an upgrade and revamp plan at the national level
  • Define the process and the guidelines to run the implementation of the plan
  • Create tools and methods and train the technicians and local teams to support the implementation of the plan

Mission 3: Water kiosks monitoring

  • Monitor the site assessment app and data consolidation
  • Monitor the monthly water tests and dedicated app, in collaboration with the Water Quality and Technical Manager
  • Define water quality intervention protocol to solve recurring issues
  • Develop routine plan and guidelines to ensure a long-term water quality follow-up

Mission 4: Others

  • Participate to the elaboration of ToR for a climate risk assessment of the network
  • Participate to the monthly technical committees and team meetings
  • Other innovation project and tasks

Expériences / Formation

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the water sector, with knowledge of drinking water quality and water treatment
  • Engineer’s degree in the water sector
  • Technical knowledge and experience in plumbing, electricity and mechanics is a plus
  • Fluent in English, Khmer basics is a plus
  • Past experience(s) in expatriation or volunteering
  • Interest to work with local rural communities and in an intercultural context
  • Hands-on approach

Salaire

Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia (50% of time travelling all over the country)

Contract: Volontariat de Solidarité Internationale (VSI) or Cambodian contract of employment

Duration: Minimum 12 months (renewable)

Starting Date: December 15th, 2024
