Finance Manager – InsuranceSalary £55,000 to £60,000 per annum12 Month FTCFT – 35 hours per weekLondon HybridAs a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for assessing and improving the month-end process of the Home product for SAGA’s in-house underwriter, Acromas Insurance Company Limited (AICL).You will be accountable for facilitating the definition of an accurate month-end process for Home and its migration to the new accounting system Workday. You will also be responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting and reporting, working within the R2R team and the rest of the FR&C team.You will be working in Saga’s largest finance team within our Insurance Community. This technical finance team manage the accounts receivables and full reporting of transactions for over 1.5 million customers across our main insurance products: Home and Motor.** Remote working with a homebased or hybrid approach, you will be required to visit our Ashford, Kent hub on occasions. If you are based in the South East, you will be welcome to visit more often. This will be discussed during the process.Role ResponsibilityOur Finance Manager will report directly to the Financial Controller and will collaborate with the Record2Report team, FR&C team and the Home Actuaries. You will be fully accountable for the following areas;

  • Understanding AICL’s current month end process for the home insurance product, including both internal and external reporting requirements
  • Performing current month-end tasks and delivery of reports to the reinsurance partners in line with agreed timescales
  • Definition of a plan to streamline and automate current process to adapt it to changing business needs.
  • Identifying and eliminating inefficiencies in the transition to new process.
  • Integrating Home reporting into the wider AICL month end process, ensuring both comprehensive process notes and effective controls are in place
  • Facilitating the migration of the Home ledger onto the new accounting system (Workday).

The Ideal CandidateOur ideal Finance Manager would be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, with experience in finance transformation projects. Whilst experience working for an underwriter would be advantageous, we are keen to consider candidates from all areas of the wider Insurance industry.You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

  • Analytically strong with the ability to challenge and interrogate, facilitating the ability to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of colleagues at varying levels
  • Able to quickly establish credibility, winning the respect and co-operation of colleagues
  • High integrity and objectivity, capable of selling ideas and implementing change
  • Inquisitive, and strong desire to understand the “why” behind processes in order to perform them better and identify opportunities
  • Able to work independently without constant oversight
  • Relish the challenge of working to tight deadlines and during periods of pressure
