Position Summary

This position serves a multifaceted role, designing, managing, and refining integrated educational and training programs for adult learners. This role encompasses integrated academic, technical and occupational skill training, instructional coaching, instructional design principles, hands-on teaching, stringent grant compliance reporting, and forging strategic collaborations with workforce partners to ensure the program’s relevance and success.

MAJOR DUTIES
· Conceptualize and launch effective IET programs, intertwining adult education with technical and vocational training through strategic instructional design.
 
· Undertake direct teaching in adult education or specialized training modules, ensuring that instructional methods and content align with the IET program’s standards.
 
· Utilize progressive instructional design methodologies to develop, assess, and adapt course materials and curricula tailored for the diverse needs of adult learners.
 
· Proactively establish and nurture relationships with local workforce partners, businesses, and industry sectors to understand the current labor market’s demands. Incorporate feedback and insights from these collaborations into program development and curricular adjustments.
 
· Oversee and conduct comprehensive student evaluations, ensuring alignment between learners’ academic and vocational achievements with program objectives.
 
· Uphold all program activities in strict compliance with grant provisions. Regularly prepare and submit detailed grant compliance reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
 
· Champion IET programs within the community, cementing strong ties with local enterprises, industries, and workforce entities.
 
· Periodically revisit and enhance the curriculum, resources, and instructional techniques based on feedback, instructional design principles, and evolving market imperatives.
 
· Organize and facilitate regular professional development and coaching sessions for instructional staff, honing their teaching methodologies, instructional design techniques, and program outcomes.
 
· Methodically monitor, evaluate, and report program performance metrics, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and funding stipulations.
 
· Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
 
The Director of Adult Education and Learning Initiatives assigns work in terms of general instructions and advising and in terms of goals and objectives. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for the nature and propriety of results.
 
GUIDELINES
 
Guidelines include New Mexico Higher Education Department guidelines, New Mexico Public Education Department guidelines, National Reporting System guidelines, grant requirements, and college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. This position develops departmental guidelines.
 
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
 
· The work consists of varied duties in creating, designing, and instructing the ACE Center’s IET program. A variety of constituencies, both internal and external, contribute to the complexity of the position.
 
· The purpose of this position is to design, instruct, and evaluate the IET programming for the ACE Center. Success in this position results in the efficient and effective provision of programming to students, clarifies pathways for entering students, and connects education and career opportunities.
 
CONTACTS
· Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, sentencing officials, court representatives, and representatives of a variety of community service agencies, students, and members of the public.
 
· Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
· The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and distinguishes between shades of color.
 
· The work is typically performed in a classroom, learning environment or office.
 
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
 
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
· Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
 
· Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for three or more years.
Preferred Qualifications
 
· A proven track record of cultivating and maintaining partnerships with businesses, industry sectors, workforce agencies, and other community stakeholders.
 
· Familiarity with the latest trends, methodologies, and best practices in instructional design, pedagogy, and IET.
 
· Competence in seamlessly integrating technology and e-learning platforms into curriculum development and delivery.
