Job description
Under the supervision and guidance of the Special Assistant of the Assistant-Secretary-General, Executive Director of CTED, the Intern may be responsible for the following duties: • Proactively contributing suggestions and ideas that will add value to CTED Office of the Executive Director; • Assisting in preparing background notes, talking points for meetings, missions and other events attended by the Executive Director; • Attending and taking notes at meetings, conferences and other events where the Executive Director participates in; assisting in the preparation of summaries and reports of discussions; analyzing issues of concern raised by relevant stakeholders in the area of counter-terrorism; • Assisting in gathering, selecting and analyzing data contained in communication and publications received from different sources, including the UN meetings, reports of international and regional organizations, and the press. • Assisting the Special Assistant in her activities to support the Executive Director; • Assisting in preparing documents needed for setting up arrangements for the organization of CTC/CTED meetings, workshops and seminars. • Taking on other special projects as assigned.Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in the areas of political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area; (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship.Additional InformationNot available.Intern Specific textInterns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
