These positions are located in the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The Department of Operational Support was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the United Nations Secretariat, including other departments, offices away-from UN headquarters, UN field missions, and UN regional commissions. OSCM includes the Office of the Assistant Secretary General, Logistics Division, the Procurement Division, the Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Umoja Coordination Service, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section and the Enabling and Outreach Service. OSCM is committed to building efficient, agile, responsive, accountable, end-to-end uniformed capabilities and supply chain solutions for all our global partners and clients. SCM covers a wide scope of services including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support, procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support. In addition to operational services and support, OSCM also provides advisory services and guidance to nearly 100 client entities globally, as well as to troop and police contributing countries (T/PCCs). The incumbent will report to the relevant Supervisor. Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in OSCM, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. – Strategic and Project Support This track resembles consulting-like work and draws on conceptualization, PowerPoint, and project management skills. • Help to analyze the performance across functional areas, including supply chain, uniformed support, planning and operational support, and administrative support • Support work on priority projects such as specific innovation initiatives • Support design, drafting, and implementing strategic priorities such as departmental-wide performance framework, client relationship models, etc. – Communications and Design This track aims at applicants with some experience with graphic design, working with the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator) and/or experience in building websites. • Design core identity products that illustrate corporate vision, mission, and values • Design and prepare content/copy for corporate briefings, presentations, fact sheets, and snapshots • Support the development of websites, webpages design and communication material, including layout, content, look and • Provide design support across a range of print and online productsQualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the UN, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. We are open to a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds. For this Internship specifically, OSCM is looking for candidates pursuing studies and experiences in the following area: Communications and Design We seek candidates with relevant coursework in Design, Web Development, Strategic Design and Management, Marketing, Information Design, Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism, HR and/or Data Visualization. It would be beneficial for the intern to be interested in developing: -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Seeking bottlenecks as an opportunity to identify process improvements. -Project planning and implementation skills. -Ability to draft and edit written materials for various purposes.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required.
