These positions are located in the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in OSCM, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. The Department of Operational Support was established to provide operational advisory services to operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices away from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. The Office of Supply Chain Management includes the Office of the Assistant Secretary- General for Supply Chain Management, Logistics Division, Procurement Division, Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section and the Enabling and Outreach Service. OSCM is committed to building efficient, agile, responsive, accountable, end-to-end uniformed capabilities and supply chain solutions for all our global partners and clients. Supply Chain Management covers a wide scope of services including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support, procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support. In addition to operational services and support, OSCM also provides advisory services and guidance to nearly 100 client entities globally, as well as to troop and police contributing countries (T/PCCs). The incumbent will report to the relevant Supervisor within ESS. OSCM offers internship opportunities in Renewable Energy. The Renewable Energy intern will: • Support in the extraction and analysis of relevant data to build environmental models for infrastructure development in any of the areas of human habitation, energy or water/wastewater • Support in identifying objectively, verifiable indicators for tracking progress in the delivery of sustainability targets within the core Engineering Support Section (ESS) pillars (eg how to track the contribution of the field accommodation model/renewable energy model to positive legacy/sustainability) • Development of baseline study model for the establishment of facilities and infrastructure in field entities in support of positive legacy and sustainability • Contribute to project analysis in the category management teams for accommodation, renewable energies, water and waste-water treatment and gender-equity and women empowerment solutions • Familiarize with engineering methodologies and standards used to design, construct, and provide maintenance to different systems, and facilities. • Support the team in reviewing the assessments of issues and trends, preparation of technical evaluation or research activities and studies on global engineering concept of support trends. • Contribute to the identification of information sources from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems modules and other relevant systems of record to capture required data for goods and services sourcing solutions, in support of Logistics Division clients and partners’ demands in the areas of accommodation, renewable energies, water and waste-water treatment and gender-equity and women empowerment solutions. Extract, analyze and integrate data to develop operational, analytical, and strategic reporting solutions. • Assist in the development and maintenance of visualizations tools to provide real-time insights to business data that can inform communication with clients. • Support in preparing recommendations to the Chief of ESS and other stakeholders based on data analysis and independent root cause analysis conducted with key stakeholders/business process owners to support corporate sourcing activities such as Request for Proposal (RFP) analysis and supplier performance analysis. • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the UN, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above). We are open to a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds. Typically, for this opportunity our interns are pursuing studies and experiences in the following areas: Engineering, and studies related to renewable energy. Knowledge of data analysis tools and methods is desirable.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
