We are currently seeking to fill an intern position with the Multilateral and Programme Country Partnerships based in Washington, USA.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISIONIn April 2018, WFP established the Strategic Partnerships Division to foster partnerships with development actors and strategically position WFP to achieve zero hunger. For this purpose, the Division works to enhance WFP’s strategic engagements with host governments; International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and other relevant development partners; and the African Union (AU) and related continental institutions.Known collectively as the Bretton Woods Institutions, the World Bank is often the main development partner providing knowledge and financing to national Governments, while the IMF provides a lending facility and technical advice. The Strategic Partnerships Division provides targeted technical support to Country Offices to engage at field level with the World Bank/IMF around operational opportunity, to support national Governments achieving their development ambitions -while also engaging at global level in Washington DC to set the strategic direction and facilitate relationship building. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP Strategic Partnerships Division. The position will be in person, and the Internship will be for a period of at least 2 months, with starting date as soon as possible.GENERAL INFORMATION

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWorking with the Strategic Partnerships Officer, the intern will support the Washington DC team, leading the engagement with the World Bank, IMF and IADB, to:1. Support research and analysis to develop strategies for joint initiatives with the World Bank, the IMF and the IADB.2. Support the Strategic Partnership Officers in their country office support to harness the potential of the partnerships with the three IFIs.3. Contribute to develop concept notes, factsheets, newsletters, and mapping opportunities at the global, regional, or country levels, as needed.4. Contribute to the understanding of the strategic direction, priorities, and activities of the three IFIs on relevant topics.5. Perform any other relevant duty/assignment as may be deemed necessary by his/her supervisor.STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a

; * University course attendance in the past 12 months;

  • Fluency in English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.

SUPERVISIONThe position is under the direct supervision of the Strategic Partnerships Officer.TRAINING COMPONENTSThroughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.LEARNING ELEMENTSAt the end of the assignment, the Intern should:1. Understand research and analysis to develop strategies for joint initiatives.2. Understand the development of a WFP and IFI partnerships and how country offices can harness its potential.3. Able to develop concept notes, factsheets, newsletters, and mapping opportunities at the global, regional, or country levels.4. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  • Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
