Description of Work Unit Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.
It is the mission of this department to provide safe, efficient multi-modal access to campus and manage parking resources to support campus activities and enhance life in the university community. The department is a self-funded auxiliary department of Colorado State University that supports all maintenance and operations as they relate to transportation services on campus.
Position Summary Position provides support for departmental users; demonstrating software and hardware utilization; querying databases, using API’s, building reports and dashboards; diagnosing, analyzing, resolving, documenting, installing and updating hardware and software on client workstations and mobile devices.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in a field of study related to the work assignment AND one year of experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job.

OR

  • Two years of experience as defined by the department will substitute for each year of required education. A bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study related to the work assignment will substitute for the associate’s degree and, at the agency’s discretion, the year of experience.

  • Work experience in hardware and software installation, maintenance, repair, as well as providing exceptional user support.
  • Aptitude building and maintaining vendor relationships to identify software and hardware functionality and solutions.
  • Evidence of experience working effectively in a team environment, as well as autonomously.
  • Knowledge of data exchange between differing vendor systems (e.g., API, SSH, SFTP) and understanding of data security and encryption.
  • Experience with data storage, analysis, integrity, security, documentation, and reporting.
  • Experience working with websites, web forms, and online accessibility standards.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support and guidance to a variety of end-users that vary from basic to advanced levels of understanding and technology use (verbal communication skills).
  • Experience querying databases, creating reports, and validating data.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Apple, Windows, and Android operating systems, devices, and hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong working relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Experience documenting processes and frequent issues/solutions (written communication skills).
  • Experience researching products and software and provide recommendations.
  • Ability to plan ahead when scheduling updates/system outages to cause the least amount of impact to users.
  • Experience with automating business processes and tasks.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage time.
  • Team focused and the ability and desire to collaborate with others.

  • Provide user support by installing, configuring and maintaining application software and computer hardware (workstations, printers, scanner, mobile devices etc.); demonstrating hardware and software utilization: diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving hardware and software problems.
  • Provide appropriate training, documentation, and guidance on the use of installed software applications. Troubleshoot basic network connectivity to the LAN.
