Main Responsibilities:
The Communications Intern will support the department in various activities, including but not limited to:
• Supporting the Communication Campaign for the World Conservation Congress by managing social media efforts, writing quotes and reports, drafting press releases, and communicating with multiple parties to obtain information and secure offers.
• Assisting in the regular updating of the IUCN ROWA Website.
• Carrying out research and writing web stories and articles for IUCN’s newsletters and websites.
• Supporting IUCN’s social media efforts, including content creation and management for Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms.
• Assisting in the production of project publications by gathering and/or drafting information and conducting background research.
• Helping with the layout of publications and coordinating designers’ work.
• Supporting work targeted at local and regional media, including press releases and media outreach.
• Contributing to the development and dissemination of audio and video materials.
• Assisting in Arabic-English translation and review.
• All duties listed will be to Provide support to the Communications and Documentations Assistant in all requested tasks.
• Performing any other duties as requested by the line manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Recent graduate or currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
• Experience or interest in social media management.
• Familiarity with content management systems and website updating is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) is an asset.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to various tasks.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
• Gain practical experience in communication and media relations within an international organization.
• Develop research and writing skills tailored to environmental and conservation topics.
• Enhance knowledge of social media strategies and digital communications.
• Improve translation and editorial skills in both Arabic and English.
• Understand the process of publication development and coordination with designers.
• Gain exposure to working in a professional and multicultural setting.
