  • Reviewing and Commenting (R&C) on documents related to the DP field-work activities.
  • Leading facility response to internal and external emergencies as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) or Emergency Steward of various facilities.
  • Responding to calls during non-business hours and resolving emergency calls.
  • Working with Trades, Projects, Radiation Protection, and other support groups to resolve problems and issues related to the field activities.
  • Maintaining and updating the preventative maintenance program while ensuring all maintenance and compliance activities are completed on time.
  • Supervising or conducting contractor oversight of teams (up to 20 staff).
  • Leading demolition activities in the field in multiple areas of any job site.
  • Supervising the operation of heavy demolition equipment.
  • Supervising site reduction and packaging of radioactive/non-radioactive demolition waste following Waste Management Plans (WMPs), Waste Enquiry Forms (WEFs), and Waste Information Forms (WIFs).
  • Owning and managing job sites, including perimeter barriers, signage, staff work practices, and traffic and pedestrian control.
  • Participating in CNL Plan of Day (POD) meetings with teams.
  • Participating in contractor pre-jobs/post-jobs.
  • Verifying contractors’ timesheets and overtime.
  • Providing coaching as necessary.
  • Ensuring adherence to fieldwork plans and permits, including hold points and signoffs before advancement.
  • Working with G-1 and DP Reactor Decommissioning staff to resolve problems/issues to maintain a safe path forward approach to work execution.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • High School graduation with an advanced level in Math, Science, or equivalent.
  • Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a nuclear environment or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Well-developed leadership and communication skills, including the ability to develop a collaborative, team-oriented work environment in a unionized and non-unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, unusual or hazardous conditions, and to lead others in such conditions;
  • Familiar with emergency procedures and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and application of radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination control.
  • Be capable of obtaining Radiation Protection Group 3 certification within three (3) months.
  • Familiarity with the Planning process and a Maintenance Management System.
  • Effective writing skills in English for report development, daily logs, OTOs (Order to Operate), RWPs (Radiological Work Plan), and work plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specification sheets, and detailed instructions.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software.
  • Familiarity with compliance programs.
  • Understanding of waste management principles and volume reduction methodologies.
  • Capable of producing plans and schedules.
  • Ability to attain Site Access security clearance.
  • Understanding of Canada Labour Code Part II.
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Knowledge of Canada Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations and how they apply to decommissioning activities is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the applicable codes associated with decommissioning a nuclear site and buildings and how to apply them when performing decommissioning activities is required is an asset.
  • Ability to be certified as an Asbestos Abatement Supervisor.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
