OneSubsea – Barrow, is SLB’s centre of excellence for subsea connector systems, delivering World class connector solutions to the global energy industry. Our facility designs and manufactures cutting edge power, instrumentation and fibre optic wet mate connector technology for demanding deepwater and high-pressure applications.

With 5 business units equipped with moulding, machining, assembly and test facilities, and 150 highly skilled engineers, technologists and manufacturing personnel, we deliver connector innovation to meet an ever-increasing global demand.

We are located in in the Northwest of England on the edge of the Lake District National Park, one of the most beautiful areas in the world and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Job Summary:

We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team designing and manufacturing electrical, hydraulic downhole connectors. With minimal supervision and direction, provide engineering skills to lead the delivery of new technology projects, execution of commercial product offerings and aftermarket support and sustaining of for integrated OSS technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work on the execution of new technology developments, through the design and development stage gates with minimal supervision, liaising closely with all stakeholders, internal departments and external clients to achieve timely completion of milestones within budget
  • Analyse, design, develop, qualify and integrate products and assist in their commercialisation – in line with key project and budget milestones
  • Co-ordinate daily engineering activities including 3D CAD conceptual work, detailed design reviews, mechanical and electrical FEA, Reliability studies, design related documentation, client liaison and communication with all departments
  • Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and other artefacts. Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed and met.
  • Travel within the UK and internationally to meet with clients and end users as required during the key stages of the project. Make presentations effectively to technical and management audiences
  • Identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Learn new skills and adopt new practices readily in order to develop innovative and low-cost products that maintain OSS/SLB’s technical leadership position

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering or equivalent HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer-Aided Design would be preferred.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Creo (Pro E) or SolidWorks, along with capability in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional growth, with a dedication to advancing your career and a passion for intricate Mechanical design.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to conveying ideas effectively through written and verbal communication.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/Master’s or HND/HNC in an Engineering discipline or related subject.
