- Assist in the effective and efficient operational management of the Acute Medical Unit.
- Undertake and supervise clinical practice and audit.
- Responsible for nursing staff development and training
- Monitor and constantly improve safe patient care.
- Competent in Manchester Triage
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Main duties of the jobBand 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse – Acute MedicineThe Acute Medical Unit is a dedicated front of house facility with an integrated trolley-based Assessment Unit and a new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. Supported by integrated diagnostics, therapies and pharmacy hubs. This is designed to give people better access to emergency care and cut through long waiting lists and aims to minimise the length of stay for patients (target being 48 hours).The acute medical workforce is currently being expanded to meet the service redesign changes. - Bachelor degree in relevant health related subject (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies e.g. Bronze IQT
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
Desirable
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Recognised management qualification
ExperienceEssential
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
- Experience of shift leadership
- Competent in Manchester Triage system
- Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring preregistration nursing or midwifery students.
